Lincoln’s White Hart Hotel is expanding its conference and events offer following the completion of a multi-million-pound redevelopment programme.

The historic hotel, which dates back to 1386, has undergone an extensive refurbishment since being acquired by local businessman Andrew Long in July 2022.

The investment has included a reconfiguration of the property’s meeting and events facilities, with the hotel now targeting conferences, corporate presentations, networking receptions and workshops alongside private celebrations.

At the centre of the new offer is the Royal Courtyard, an events space beneath a glass dome with capacity for up to 100 delegates.

The King Richard II Suite can accommodate a further 100 delegates, with the two spaces capable of being combined to create an event environment for up to 200 people.

The hotel’s Tank Room provides a smaller private dining and meeting option for up to ten guests.

The room takes its name from its connection to the development of the first military tank, which was conceived by Sir William Tritton and Major W.G. Wilson in an upstairs room at the hotel in 1915.

Conference packages include AV and meeting facilities, event coordination, accommodation, parking and food and beverage options.

Day delegate rates start from £35 per person.

The redevelopment has sought to retain the building’s historical character while introducing facilities required by modern conference and events organisers.

The White Hart’s history also includes a visit by the then Prince of Wales in 1925 and its use for political and civic gatherings during the 19th century.

More recently, the hotel has hosted guests including Tom Hanks during filming for The Da Vinci Code in 2005 and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

It also provides hospitality during city events including the Asylum Steampunk Festival and Lincoln Festival of History.

Andrew Long, Owner of the White Hart Hotel, said: “Historic venues have a real commercial advantage in today’s events market, but heritage alone isn’t enough. Organisers expect flexibility, technology, service and value.

“Our investment brings those things together – preserving what makes the White Hart distinctive while creating functional spaces that work for modern events to create memorable delegate experiences.

“There’s a growing demand for venues located outside of the UK’s largest cities, with many organisers seeking destinations that offer accessibility and culture and the city of Lincoln has this in abundance.”

The White Hart is located in central Lincoln, allowing conference delegates to combine meetings and accommodation with access to the city’s restaurants, hospitality businesses and visitor attractions.

The property forms part of the Loxley Collection, whose portfolio also includes Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood’s Bay and Polurrian on the Lizard in Cornwall.
