The Gold Service Scholarship has announced the 48 semi-finalists for its 2027 competition, recognising emerging talent in front-of-house food and beverage service across the UK hospitality industry.

The successful candidates represent hotels, restaurants, contract catering businesses and private members’ clubs, highlighting the range of roles and career opportunities available within hospitality service.
The 48 candidates were selected following quarter-final assessments held over two days in October at Hotel Café Royal and The Langham in London.
Participants completed three assessments designed to evaluate their knowledge, professionalism and practical service skills, including a written assessment, individual interview and table-laying challenge.
Edward Griffiths CVO, Trustee and Chairman of the Judges at the Gold Service Scholarship, said:
“We have been delighted with both the calibre and number of candidates this year. The quarter-finals were incredibly competitive; it was difficult to limit the number to 48, as the quality was so high. I’d like to congratulate all those who got through and thank all those who entered. This will be yet another fantastic year.”
Established in 2012, the Gold Service Scholarship supports the development of young front-of-house professionals through mentoring, training, industry placements and opportunities to learn from experienced hospitality leaders.
The competition brings together individuals working across restaurant service, food and beverage management, wine and bar service, and events hospitality.
The semi-finalists will now progress to the next stage of the competition at The Savoy in London on Monday 14 December 2026, where they will undertake further practical assessments before the finalists are selected.
The competition will continue in January 2027, with a development seminar scheduled for Monday 11 January at Corinthia London, followed by the final on Monday 18 January.
Winning finalists will receive access to a programme of professional development opportunities, including educational experiences, mentoring and placements within established hospitality businesses.
The eventual 2027 Scholar will receive additional development opportunities designed to support their long-term career progression within the industry.
