The Queens in Crouch End has reopened following a £150,000 refurbishment that combines the restoration of its historic interiors with a renewed focus on its food and drink offering.

The Grade II-listed pub, owned by Urban Pubs & Bars, has undergone a programme of works designed to preserve its Victorian architecture while enhancing the overall guest experience.

Known for its Art Nouveau stained-glass windows, decorative plasterwork, moulded ceilings and dark wood panelling, The Queens has long been recognised as one of North London’s most distinctive historic pubs. The refurbishment has focused on protecting and showcasing these features while updating the venue for modern hospitality operations.

Located in the centre of Crouch End, the pub continues to serve as a community hub for local residents, families and visitors.

Alongside the refurbishment, The Queens has relaunched its food offering with a seasonal menu led by Head Chef ‘Bambino’, who has worked at the venue for 14 years.

The menu includes dishes such as monkfish scampi with tartare and curry sauces, White Cobb half chicken with roasted garlic butter and butterhead salad, whipped chicken liver parfait with brioche, sour cherries and pickles, grilled Cornish mackerel with panzanella and a dessert named “Queens of Puddings”.

Traditional pub classics remain an important part of the offer, including the venue’s Sunday roast menu. The drinks selection features craft beers, wines and cocktails.

The relaunch is being overseen by General Manager David Campbell, who brings experience from London’s premium pub dining sector.

Commenting on the reopening, Campbell said: “The Queens has always been one of North London’s great historic pubs and this refurbishment has been about respecting that legacy. We’ve carefully preserved the beautiful Victorian features that make the building so special while continuing to develop a food offering that gives people another reason to visit. Whether guests come for the architecture, a pint, a Sunday roast or a special meal, we want The Queens to remain at the heart of the Crouch End community for many years to come.”

The investment reflects continued demand for heritage-led hospitality venues that combine traditional pub environments with elevated food and drink experiences.
