RAD Hotel Group has announced the acquisition of Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa in Troon.
The landmark acquisition marks a major milestone in the independently owned group’s continued growth strategy, bringing its portfolio to ten hotels across Scotland.
The investment represents the family-run group’s first five-star property and further strengthens RAD Hotel Group’s position in Scotland’s luxury hospitality, dining and wedding markets.
Renowned for its spa, accommodation and wedding offering, Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa has become synonymous with Scottish hospitality and has established an international reputation with visitors drawn to Ayrshire’s golfing coastline, including nearby Royal Troon.
RAD Hotel Group confirmed that the acquisition was completed following an agreement with hotelier Bill Costley, whose stewardship of the property has helped cement Lochgreen’s reputation as one of Scotland’s leading hotels and wedding venues.
The group has pledged to honour the legacy of both Lochgreen House Hotel and Bill Costley’s contribution to Ayrshire hospitality, with plans to preserve many of the property’s historic features and rich history within future interior design and guest spaces.
Originally built as a private mansion in the early 19th century, Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa has evolved into one of Scotland’s most distinguished country house hotels, while retaining its period character, architectural elegance and reputation for hospitality.

RAD Hotel Group has developed a reputation for investing in and enhancing historic hospitality venues across Scotland, combining heritage preservation with modern guest and wedding experiences.
The acquisition of Lochgreen follows the addition of several landmark Scottish hotels to the group’s portfolio in recent years, including Seamill Hydro and Brig o’ Doon House Hotel, which was also acquired from Bill Costley.
The group confirmed that Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa will continue to operate as normal throughout the transition, with guests, wedding couples and event organisers experiencing no disruption.
All existing bookings, deposits and Lochgreen gift vouchers will continue to be honoured, and customers with upcoming reservations will be contacted directly.
All members of the hotel team have been retained, ensuring continuity of service.
Customers holding Costley Hotel Group gift vouchers can redeem them at the Costley group’s remaining properties.
The acquisition of Lochgreen also follows RAD Hotel Group’s purchase of the boutique nine-bedroom Seamill House Hotel in West Kilbride earlier this month.
The deal marks a significant step in RAD Hotel Group’s long-term growth strategy as it continues to invest in Scottish hospitality, heritage hotels and destination-led guest experiences.
