Octola has announced the launch of Octola III, a new luxury wilderness retreat set to welcome its first guests on 1 December 2026 in the remote fells of Finnish Lapland.
Located on the site of a former radar station and positioned 500 metres above sea level, the invitation-only lodge will accommodate up to six guests and offer panoramic views across Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Designed for travellers seeking privacy, exclusivity and immersive experiences, Octola III combines luxury hospitality with meaningful connections to nature and local culture. Hidden within a protected Sámi wilderness area, the lodge will provide guests with access to vast private landscapes, exceptional opportunities for stargazing and viewing the Northern Lights, and a fully personalised service including a dedicated host, private chef, sauna and curated Arctic activities.
The property occupies a private wilderness estate spanning tens of hectares and includes more than five kilometres of private roads, ensuring complete privacy and discretion. Despite its remote setting, the retreat is located just 20 minutes from Enontekiö Arctic Airport via private transfer.
A key element of the Octola experience is its close connection to Sámi culture. Guests will have opportunities to explore traditional crafts, historical sites and cultural experiences in nearby communities, as well as learn about reindeer herding traditions through partnerships with local Sámi families.
Wellness experiences have also been designed around Nordic traditions, with a wood-fired sauna and custom-built ice-swimming pond encouraging guests to embrace the contrast between heat and cold. The retreat also includes a private leisure complex featuring a bar, games facilities and dedicated spaces for indoor activities.
Designed by UKI Architects under the direction of renowned Lappish architect Hannu Voutilainen, Octola III reflects the landscapes, heritage and traditions of the Arctic region through its architecture and interiors.
Accommodation can be configured as a one-suite retreat, a two-suite retreat or a full-lodge buyout, allowing stays to be tailored to couples, families or small private groups while maintaining complete exclusivity.
For larger parties, guests will also have the option to combine Octola III with the nearby Aurora Radar Station. Opened earlier this year, Aurora Radar Station occupies another former military site that has been transformed into a luxury Arctic retreat. Together, the two properties can accommodate larger groups while preserving the privacy of the main lodge.
Sustainability and environmental awareness form a central part of the concept. Located in one of the world’s cleanest environments, Octola III features research-grade air quality monitoring technology that continuously measures atmospheric conditions and contributes data to climate and environmental research programmes.
