Octant Hotels is celebrating its fourth anniversary this month with figures that reflect a trajectory of consistent growth and a value proposition increasingly recognised both nationally and internationally. Since opening its first hotel, the group has welcomed more than 750,000 guests (682,755 adults and 71,375 children), generating a total of 365,763 room nights.

The diversity of guests choosing Octant is one of the most striking aspects of this milestone. Over the past four years, the group has welcomed guests from 179 different nationalities, consolidating its position on the global map of informal luxury tourism, with particularly strong markets in the United States, the United Kingdom and Portugal. The average stay is two nights, representing 39% of all stays, while the predominant age group is 36 to 50 years old (25% of the total), closely followed by guests aged 51 to 65 (20%).

“Four years on, we look at these figures with genuine gratitude for the diversity of people, cultures and stories that have passed through Octant Hotels. The brand was born from the belief that it was possible to create an authentic, informal and high-quality Portuguese hospitality experience, and what these four years show us is that this conviction transcends borders. We have welcomed guests from more than 150 different countries, which, for Octant Hotels, is the clearest proof that Portugal — in all its many expressions, from the Douro to the Azores, from Alentejo to the Algarve — has stories to tell that the world wants to discover. We are excited about what the coming years have in store for us,” says Luís Mexia Alves, CEO of Octant Hotels.

Among the brand’s most emblematic initiatives since launch was “Como em CASA”, introduced in 2023, built on the commitment to celebrate the gastronomic uniqueness of each destination and share it through authentic experiences, with local people joining the chefs of each property in the kitchen. In 2025, the Octant Latitude project rediscovered and mapped hidden treasures and traditions, with more than 300 recommendations of crafts, traditions, people and landscapes to discover in the regions where the hotels are located.

In October 2025, the Festival Octant Douro placed Octant Douro, in Castelo de Paiva, at the centre of a unique cultural and gastronomic experience. Under the theme “All of Douro comes to Octant”, the festival was conceived as a celebration of the Douro as a continuous cultural landscape, linking Spain and Portugal and bringing together people, producers, chefs and artists along the river. By transforming the territory into a living narrative, it delivered an immersive and deeply authentic experience where every moment reflected the concept of a “Local Kind of Luxury”.

Alongside events that shaped the region’s cultural calendar, Octant Douro itself expanded its accommodation offering with the new House Collection, designed to provide a deeper immersion into the Douro landscape and tranquillity, with design and amenities reflecting the brand’s concept of authentic local luxury.

This dynamism is not limited to the north of Portugal and is reflected in major investment during a growth phase for two of the brand’s Algarve properties. Octant Praia Verde is nearing completion of its expansion works, elevating the property’s status in the eastern Algarve. The main addition is the Beach Collection suites, featuring private terraces and plunge pools, offering an exclusive guest experience. Alongside these new accommodation categories, the hotel will also unveil a new spa in 2026, with additional treatment rooms, strengthening its wellness offering in one of the most preserved areas of the Portuguese coastline.

Octant Vila Monte, in Moncarapacho, is also undergoing a phased expansion. Among the developments transforming the hotel into one of the most complete offerings in the inland Algarve are Restaurante Laranjal, led by Chef David Domingues, and, above all, the new accommodation concepts: the exclusive Vila Alegria and the sophisticated Casas do Olival.
