KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar has announced plans to open a new restaurant in Birmingham this autumn, marking the seventh location for the growing hospitality brand.

The new venue will be located on Temple Row, overlooking Cathedral Square in Birmingham’s Colmore Business District, and will feature a bar and lounge, open sushi kitchen, main restaurant and private dining space.
Open seven days a week, the restaurant will offer KIBOU’s signature blend of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine, including sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura, gyoza and a range of premium Japanese specialities.
A dedicated bar area will complement the food offering, serving Japanese-inspired cocktails alongside a carefully curated selection of Japanese whisky, sake and umeshu.
The new site has been designed by Q&A Interior Design Ltd, which has worked across all KIBOU locations to date. The interiors will feature original artwork by Gloucestershire-based artist Martyna Sabadasz, whose distinctive murals have become a key part of the brand’s identity.
Guests can expect bold, colourful interiors inspired by Japanese culture, designed to create an immersive and escapist dining experience while reflecting KIBOU’s spirit of adventure and discovery.
The Birmingham opening follows a record trading year for the business, with the company reporting significant year-on-year growth driven by continued investment in guest experience and employee retention.
The new restaurant strengthens KIBOU’s presence in the Midlands, adding to its existing Solihull location, while joining sites in Battersea, Cheltenham, Clifton, Cambridge and Oxford.
Commenting on the expansion, Sam Horswill, Managing Director at KIBOU Restaurants Ltd, said: “We’ve had our eye on Birmingham for a long time and we’re so excited to be growing our brand and opening our newest site in the heart of the city.
“Some people may be familiar with KIBOU after having visited our nearby Solihull restaurant and we can’t wait to become part of the Birmingham community too.
“Following exceptional growth across the business, this marks a real step change in our ambitions and an exciting new chapter for the brand.”
The opening represents another milestone in KIBOU’s growth strategy as it continues to expand its presence across the UK restaurant market.
