House of Clarkson, the boutique hometel collection founded by renowned interior designer Shaun Clarkson and partner Paul Brewster, has launched its latest property, The Water House in Suffolk. Set within five and a half acres of countryside in Thornham Magna, the newly renovated holiday home sleeps up to eight guests and combines luxury self-catered accommodation with concierge services, outdoor wellness facilities and a dedicated event space for up to 60 guests.

Originally three workers’ cottages, the 3,500 sq.ft property has been fully renovated in Shaun’s signature style to create a distinctive home designed for short breaks and extended stays. The Water House features four bedrooms, from a Master King to an attic twin, two reception rooms, a conservatory dining room and fully equipped kitchen with AGA. Every room has been individually designed, balancing comfort with character.
Known for his bold, eclectic interiors, having delivered design projects for over 100 hospitality venues, Shaun has put his signature aesthetic to the 14thcentury property, carefully blending heritage features with layered contemporary design. Original beams and inglenook fireplaces sit alongside statement artwork, quirky ornaments, vintage chintz wallpaper and re-upholstered furnishings from across two centuries.
Designed to offer more than a standard holiday rental, The Water House is fully equipped and guests can access a concierge service to arrange groceries, dining experiences and hampers straight to the door. Bookable activities include wellness sessions, creative workshops and crafts.
The expansive grounds include formal lawns and gardens filled with lavender, topiary and olive trees, whilst an enclosed courtyard provides a space for outdoor dining, complete with a brick BBQ. The grounds also house a croquet lawn, fire pit and outdoor hot tub, with a sauna to launch at a later date, and all surrounded by wild meadows.
The refurbishment also introduces The Apple Store, transforming a former fruit shed into a one bedroom, one bathroom annex, sleeping an additional two guests and complete with its own living area. A further outbuilding, The Greenhouse, is now a dedicated events space hosting up to 60 guests.
On the new hometel, Founder and Designer Shaun Clarkson comments: “I would describe The Water House as “Chintzy Tudor Country Punk”, capturing our design philosophy of creating spaces with real personality, where heritage and hospitality work hand in hand. We wanted this to feel far more than a holiday let; it’s a place designed for people to gather and properly switch off. From the interiors to the guest experience, every detail has been considered to deliver the warmth of a private home with the quality and service people now expect from boutique hospitality.”
