The group also won the Excellence in Employee Wellbeing Award and was highly commended in the HR Team of the Year category.

Now in its 30th year, the awards took place at The Chancery Rosewood London on 11 September, bringing together more than 400 hospitality and HR professionals to recognise achievements in people and culture across the sector.

The awards follow a period of development in Clermont Hotel Group’s people and culture strategy, led by Harris, with a focus on employee insight, internal talent development, engagement and retention.

Employee engagement at the group has increased from 77% in 2023 to 85%, while employee turnover has fallen from a peak of 66% to 29%.

More than 90 employees have also been promoted internally during the past 12 months.

The results follow Clermont Hotel Group taking eighth place in the UK’s Best Workplaces Super Large category earlier this year.

Its Excellence in Employee Wellbeing Award also recognised work undertaken across the group to expand support for employees.

The number of Mental Health First Aiders has increased from eight to 40, while menopause support, wellbeing zones and measures supporting work-life balance have been introduced across the business.

The proportion of employees who report feeling encouraged to balance their work and personal lives has subsequently increased from 73% to 83%.

Heather Harris, HR Director at Clermont Hotel Group, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating such a fantastic result at this year’s HR in Hospitality Awards. Walking away with two wins and a highly commended is a brilliant reflection of the work happening across our People & Culture team and throughout Clermont Hotel Group.

“Winning HR Leader of the Year is a huge honour, but these awards mean a great deal to me and the team because they recognise the work that sits behind the everyday experience across our hotels, from how we support wellbeing to how we develop our people and create a culture where every individual can thrive.

“We’re incredibly proud of what the team has achieved and very excited to see what we can achieve together next.”
