Camden live music venue The Fiddler’s Elbow has agreed a joint venture with Quiet Revolt Media Group, with plans to preserve the pub’s live music operations while developing new opportunities for grassroots musicians through digital broadcasting and recording facilities.

The agreement has been reached with Dan Maiden and Nancy Wild, the venue’s existing owners, and will see The Fiddler’s Elbow continue operating as a pub and live performance space.

Under the partnership, Quiet Revolt Media Group plans to refurbish the venue and introduce a dedicated in-house recording studio for musicians in 2027.

The development comes at a challenging time for the UK’s independent music venues, with rising operating costs and financial pressures affecting the viability of grassroots performance spaces.

The joint venture aims to combine the venue’s established live music offering with Quiet Revolt’s developing media and entertainment platform, creating opportunities for emerging artists to reach audiences beyond traditional live performances.

The Fiddler’s Elbow will serve as a physical base for the company’s music activities, with performances and emerging artists documented for distribution through digital channels and its planned entertainment network, GEN TV.

The proposed model will connect live performances with recorded content, providing musicians with opportunities to develop their audiences through both physical and digital platforms.

Dan Maiden, Co-owner of The Fiddler’s Elbow, said:

“It has been an absolute honour and privilege to work with so many incredible artists, bands and wonderful people over the years at The Fiddler’s Elbow.

“We’ve shared some unforgettable moments, overcome enormous challenges and weathered some incredibly difficult times. Thanks to the unwavering support of our music community, loyal customers, dedicated staff and the organisations such as Music Venues Trust (MVT) that stood by us, we not only survived but continued to keep live music alive.

“Now, after so many remarkable years, the time has come to pass the reins to an amazing company who share our passion and vision for this very special venue. With Quiet Revolt Media Group, The Fiddler’s legacy will live on and we truly believe the best is yet to come.

“But this is by no means goodbye for us. We are delighted to be continuing our involvement, working alongside the new team to build on everything we’ve achieved and ensure The Fiddler’s Elbow goes from strength to strength.

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. We couldn’t have done it without you. And thank you to Quiet Revolt for your vision.”

Quiet Revolt Media Group is developing a media and entertainment business centred on original programming, digital distribution and opportunities for artists and creators to participate in the commercial success of their work.

Its planned GEN TV network will focus on music, entertainment, food, travel and cultural programming, with distribution intended to include YouTube, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) and video-on-demand services.

The group’s original programming plans also include food and travel productions, with projects such as Eating Off Piste, a six-part culinary series developed with Jungle Creations, and Borderless Table, hosted by Lauren Camilleri.

Through the partnership with The Fiddler’s Elbow, Quiet Revolt intends to connect its media operations with live music, allowing the Camden venue to support both performances and the development of original content.

The business model is designed to offer participating musicians and creators opportunities to benefit from revenue generated through productions, digital distribution and live events.

For The Fiddler’s Elbow, the agreement represents a new stage in the venue’s development, with Maiden and Wild continuing their involvement alongside Quiet Revolt Media Group.

Further details of the planned refurbishment and recording studio development are expected as the partnership progresses towards 2027.
