Share:

Sight Loss Councils are looking for hospitality professionals to help co-create an updated guidance resource for restaurants, cafés and pubs. By joining a short focus group, you’ll have the opportunity to share your expertise and help improve experiences for blind and partially sighted customers across the UK.

Sight Loss Councils, funded by Thomas Pocklington Trust, are regional groups led by blind and partially sighted volunteers. We use our lived experience to shape inclusive services, influence decisions, and make accessibility a priority in local communities.

We would love to hear from HR or training staff working within UK restaurants, cafés, and pubs who would be interested in joining our focus group (date TBC) to help us develop a new and improved version of our restaurant ‘Top Tips’. This resource will focus on providing guidance on how restaurants, cafés, and pubs can better support those who are blind or partially sighted.

This is a co-creation opportunity that will result in a free training resource for hospitality staff. Once redesigned and updated, this resource will be invaluable as a training tool for hospitality teams and will create a better experience for blind and partially sighted customers. It will also be a permanent resource on the Sight Loss Councils website.

What we need

We are looking for at least two representatives from restaurants, cafés and pubs. We would love to hear your insights on how the hospitality sector can better support blind and partially sighted customers and gather your advice on practical tips that would benefit both customers and hospitality staff.

Advice on current staff training barriers would also be helpful, as this will help shape the final content of the resource.

Benefits for you:

  • Your company logo will be featured on the official document, with recognition as a co-creator, providing valuable promotion for your establishment.
  • An opportunity to help shape industry guidance and improve accessibility for blind and partially sighted customers.
