Cornish Bakery Confirms Next Four Locations

Cornish Bakery has announced four more locations, with several additional sites in the pipeline.

CORNISH BAKERY NEWBURY

Following founder Steve Grocutt’s new “anti-brand strategy”, each bakery will be individually curated and bespoke to its community, while being united by a shared philosophy.

The next Cornish Bakery will open in Wells, Somerset, at the beginning of August.

The new bakery will give a fresh lease of life to a former HSBC bank that has been vacant for several years.

The design-led working bakery will mark a significant change from the building’s existing interior, creating a vibrant space where guests can experience artisan baking first-hand and the theatre of fresh products being prepared throughout the day.

Towards the end of August, Cornish Bakery will open in the Oxfordshire market town of Witney.

The launch will see a heritage building completely rejuvenated into another bespoke, high-end bakery.

Opening in Market Square, Witney fits naturally into Cornish Bakery’s portfolio of characterful market towns and tourism-led locations.

The company already operates successfully nearby in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Cornish Bakery’s expansion will continue into the autumn with a new bakery opening in Shrewsbury, expected in late October.

This will be followed by the arrival of Guildford’s first Cornish Bakery in November.

Occupying the former Russell & Bromley store at 84 High Street, the Guildford bakery will bring new life to one of the town centre’s best-known retail locations.

The announcement follows the launch of Cornish Bakery’s brand extension, RISE by Cornish Bakery.

The licensed RISE “concept bakeries” mark the next evolution of the high-growth business, with two bakeries now carrying the name and bespoke-designed brand experience.

Grocutt is now driving the next phase of the Cornish Bakery approach through an “anti-brand strategy”.

The creative direction moves away from a traditional chain-building mindset, instead positioning Cornish Bakery as a collection of high-end, individually curated bakeries created for their communities.

Each site will be connected by a shared philosophy rather than a standard template.

Mat Finch, Managing Director of Cornish Bakery, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Cornish Bakery to four more outstanding locations over the next six months. Each of these places – Wells, Witney, Shrewsbury and Guilford – has its own distinct character, thriving high street and strong sense of community, making them exactly the kind of locations where our bakeries can flourish.

“We firmly believe that bakeries have an important role to play in the continued rejuvenation of the high street and as we continue to grow, we’re committed to investing in remarkable buildings, creating beautiful spaces and becoming a long-term part of the towns we join. We can’t wait to welcome visitors through the doors of these four new locations over the coming months.”
