The Muscle Help Foundation is a multi-award winning, family-centred charity, working tirelessly in facilitating exhilarating experiences called Muscle Dreams for children and young adults (8-28yrs) living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD).
The charity’s highlight experience every year is through delivering the ‘Porsche Muscle Dreams Driving Experience Programme’, which brings joy to young people and their families. The experience is made possible through the support and generosity of the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone & Whittlebury Park.
Whittlebury Park provide ten young people and their families with an overnight stay before the big day at Silverstone, and a celebratory Muscle Warrior dinner in the Grand Prix Suite at Whittlebury Park.
This year one of the H&C News team are attending the event to report back to readers on the experience. So, we thought we’d better get some background research done before heading off. We will be doing this in two parts so first here’s Whittlebury Park, soon to be followed by the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone.
The Porsche Muscle Dreams Driving Experience Programme is not new to the team at Whittlebury Park, in fact they’ve been hosting the guests and their families since 2011.
Insight to what the experience enjoyed by the participants entails can be seen through the video below.
Key to hosting such luminaries is ensuring everything is accessible at the hotel. Nothing it seems is overlooked, individual bedrooms are prepared specifically for each individual, with family access through adjoining rooms. All public areas are accessible, the hotels has wider lifts and wider doors, and a team of mindful colleagues fully committed to going the extra mile.
The hotel chefs design a menu children want to eat, if that’s pizzas guests can order their toppings and drinks before they arrive.
When the guests arrive in their rooms, goody bags are waiting for them, again assembled to each guests bespoke requirements and tastes. From strawberry laces to their favourite magazine.
Lunch is served with a warm welcome speech from Lisa Fellows-Flynn, Head of Corporate Sales, a quiz keeps the young guests entertained throughout, and wraps up with gifts, which can include F1 related signed memorabilia.
The hotel team also shared with us that they have “grown in knowledge through developing a culture of balanced learning support”.
Needless to say, we are looking forward to the experience ourselves and reporting on it.
